Rehearsals going well for Swindon Community Opera’s ‘Nursery Rhymes with a Twist’ Central to the programme are the charming settings of 12 familiar rhymes by national composer Geoff Westley. The rhymes are to be performed at the Madame Reynard’s Fringe Festival in April.
The ‘cast’ of singers includes soloists Yvette Cummings and Shaun Holley, JTPTrust Barbershop Quartet ‘A Little off the Top’ , dancer Francesca Lever and 8 year old Poppy Fox-Thompson. Janice Thompson directs, with Jessie Thompson as orchestral manager.
The semi-staged event will include illustrations by local artist Billy Beaumont and these Art Songs are suitable for both adults and children.
Familiar and favourite characters include, Humpty Dumpty, Dr Foster and Mary and her lamb.
This quirky and unusual event will take place upstairs at the Wyvern at 2pm on April 11th and is really worth a visit.
