We are all very sad to learn of the death of our honoured Patron, Mollie Petrie.
Many of you will have been adjudicated by Mollie, who was an internationally distinguished singing teacher, adjudicator, and the first Patron of the JTPTrust.
It was Mollie who wrote our Charity Commission references to recommend we became a charity; Mollie who put us in touch with Betty Roe to compose ‘Brunel the Little Man in the Tall Hat’; Mollie who supported us through so many JTPTrust Summer Wyvern Galas; Mollie who visited us to give workshops with knowledge, wit and wisdom; Mollie who for so many years believed in me and the value of the work we were doing in the JTPTrust.
David Adams, our former chairman and second Patron writes: ‘ She was a very lovely inspiring lady. I was always amazed by her energy, warmth and sense of fun. There will be many musicians in the country who will miss her and she has been the most wonderful Patron of the JTPTrust’.
Above is a picture of Mollie presenting Caroline Lock, (a young singer now studying at the Royal Northern College of Music) with the JTPTrust Championship Cup.
We will very much miss Mollie’s support and wisdom and have much loved and appreciated her as our Patron of the Trust over the past 11 years.
