Former JTPTrust singer, David Phillips is taking part in a concert devoted to the songs of Michael Head hosted by the Association of English Singers and Speakers. David, who joined the Trust as a boy treble, is now studying at the Birmingham Conservatoire. He will be singing three songs at the Eastbourne concert. David will also be returning to take part in the JTPTrust Wyvern Gala on 6 July.
Here are the concert details:
Sunday June 1st at 3.30 p.m. The Birley Centre 4 Carlisle Road Eastbourne BN21 4EF (The Birley Centre is next to the Towner Gallery and the Congress Theatre) UNSUNG HEROES OF ENGLISH SONG MICHAEL HEAD (1900-1976). Michael Head was a Professor of Piano at the Royal Academy of Music and a singer, organist and composer. Among his compositions are more than 120 songs many of which have been unjustly neglected since his death. In this concert performed by members of the Association and their students we hope to begin a revival. Admission to the concert is free but a contribution towards running costs would be appreciated.
